I just returned from a trip across the North Cascades Highway to Bainbridge Arts and Crafts Gallery on the coast. The scenic highway is about to close for the winter due to avalanches and the impossible snow removal. But it was open for another day and I made the quiet, beautiful crossing. The highest roadway elevation on the route is 5477 feet.
