Thoughts inside the Paper Image

Recently, I have gone back to my film negative files to make two prints. Both were first printed years ago in my darkroom, but the gelatin silver paper that once gave me the most delicate split-toned prints is now gone. The images have returned to life now via the archival inkjet printer. It is strange working with them again, for even after these years I still recall the difficulty in printing them beneath the enlarger, the dodging and burning, the nuances. With the new medium, I had to make several test prints before I was happy that they were nearly identical to my darkroom prints. The paper was different, I was different, but the feelings coming from the prints were the same feelings.
